Nepal resides in South Asia and is best known for being the home of the world's highest peak, Mount Everest. A main attraction for serious trekkers and mountain climbers, mountain bikers also take to the foothills and lowland areas. However, Nepal has a lot more to offer than just mountains, and a cycling holiday in Nepal can cater to all levels of rider. There are also impressive sites in the cities, including that of the capital, Kathmandu, and the nearby hilltop towns of Dhulikhel and Nagarkot. The best way to explore the Kathmandu valley is on a mountain bike .Nepal’s diverse terrain is a mountain bikers dream adventure comes true.Mountain biking offers an environmentally sound way of exploring magnificent country , its landscape and living heritage. There are plenty of dirt roads and trails in Nepal to meet every mountain biker wildest fantasy. Mountain biking is specially recommended if you wish to explore urban centers of Nepal such as pokhara and Kathmandu as well as the countryside. Adventurous souls may plan extended trips to such exotic locals as Namche bazaar, and western Nepal. Nepal has a spectacular topography containing eight of the world’s ten highest peaks including Mt.Everest which sits on the border with Tibet.

Bhaktapur (12km to the east of Kathmandu) to Banepa (14km from Bhaktaur), a historical town on the way to Tibet, is terrific for mountain biking. If you want to avoid trucks, there is an old road from bhaktapur to banepa that goes via tathal and nala .From banepa, you can take a side –trip south to panauti or east to dhulikhel. An interesting circuit is banepa to dhulikhel to namura to panauti to banepa.

Kathmandu- Kodari
The 114km highway linking Kathmandu with kodari on the Chinese border follows the ancient trade route to Lhasa known as Araniko highway, this spectacular road leads east  past bhaktapur, banepa dhulikhel and dolalghat and then turns north.

The route to kakani (altitude 1,982m) branches off at balaji bypass (3km to the northwest of Kathmandu central). It is a slow and easy ascent to this hill resort 23km northwest of Kathmandu. The trip offers a magnificent view of Ganesh himal along with the fresh and aerene atmosphere of the hills.

Nagarkot- Kathmandu
The Nagarkot to Kathmandu ride is an excellent way to experience the landscape and culture of the Kathmandu Valley. The route requires a shuttle to the village of Nagakot. The route finishes at Guhyeshwori Temple on the south side of the Bagmati River in Kathmandu city. Throughout the ride, expect technical and narrow sections of trail, passage through villages and sweeping views of the Kathmandu Valley. It's an excellent ride that combines challenging mountain biking with ancient culture and customs.

Kathmandu -Daman
The 75km stretch up to Daman on the Tribuvan highway has been described as the best bike ride in Nepal. The road spirals up and down endless hills and passes through broad valleys and small villages. Exit the Kathmandu valley at Thankot (10km from Kathmandu) and on to Palung (65Km) and finally Daman (altitude 2,400m). There is a view tower here which offers an incredible 400km panorama of the Himalaya extending from Annapurna to Everest. The bike ride to Daman takes all day.

Dhulikhel- Panauti
DhulikhelNamo Buddha Panauti biking gives a break and relaxation in busy personal life.Cycling from Panauti and beautiful Balthali village via Dhulikhel-Namobuddha is one of the heroic trips. Kathmandu to Panauti/Balthali village biking tour is a very excitable ride that takes you to the Beautiful Village of Balthali situated at the junction of Roshi and LadkuKhola. Kathmandu DhulikhelNamo Buddha Panauti Biking is a small sleepy settlement surrounded by colorful thick forests of magnolia, Sal and Rhododendron with open terraced fields. Kathmandu - Chisapani
Starting cycling from Kathamandu we arrive at Sundarijal from where we almost proceed uphill. After about 1km we turn off from the main jeep track and enter a trail that carves its way steeply up the hill side where we can see small farm and forest from 1km distant. Its course follows a beautiful stream and undulates gently for 7km until we rejoin the main jeep track. Passing a series of small lakes we make our last 3km of uphill to Chisapani, a small collection of Tea Houses and the gateway into trekking in Helembu and Langtang. 

Chisapani- Nagarkot
From Chisapani following the ridge and retracing we will reach to jeep track for around 12km which leads to narrow path. We will find teahouse while our journey. Then again following the jeep track we need to climb 7km and the last 3km to Nagarkot is steady uphill from where brilliant views can be seen.

Nagarkot -Namo Buddha 
Riding for about 5km away from Nagarkot we will head down through Tamang village we will head to Nala from where there is open road to Dhulikhel. Then climbing up again from Kavrebhanjyang for 2 hours ride we will reach Namobuddha. Here is the place where the Lord Buddha sacrificed himself to feed a starving tigress and her five cubs.

Namo Buddha - LakuriBhanjyang
Cycling from Namobuddha to Lakurebhanjyang is the most exotic cycling trip where we can have the mesmerizing view of chanting of monks and scent of sandalwood in the air. Cycling from Panauti into a steep sided valley with terraced rice fields carved into the hillside and a clean river runs alongside the trail. After climbing upwards for atleast 3km destination Lakurebhanjyang is reached.

LakuriBhanjyang- Bhaktapur
Lakurebhanjyang ride to Bkaktapur along with the spectacular views and some awesome sections following the undulating trails above the valleytakes us to beautiful temple Asahpuri. From there we will rise an awesome downhill trail which leads us to the giant statue of Shiva. A section of scenic single tracks takes us to Bhaktapur, one of the oldest cities in the Kathmandu Valley. 

Bhaktapur - Kathmandu 
Walk to Pottery Square and some of the more famous temples. Our ride back to Kathmandu will be short, around two hours but takes in some great sections of semi rural and urban single tracks; these are some of our favorite single tracks, through urban back yards and paddy fields.
