Lower Dolpo Trek

Dolpo region is considered to be one of the most remote places of the kingdom of Nepal. Abundance of Himalayan peaks, hidden lands, the villages and rural communities, this trans-Himalayan region are quiet, peaceful and full of curiosity. This is where you find the stunning Phoksundo Lake, celebrated as the jewel of Dolpo. This phoksundo lake is surrounded by rocky cliffs and its turquoise fresh water can touch the very depth of human heart wandering all around in search of peace and tranquility. Such natural phenomena of this region are not a story full of exaggeration rather a reality based on a meditative perception. This region surrounded by Dhaulagiri and Tibet from south and north respectively is regarded as a blend of natural and cultural phenomena.The people here trace their origins to Tibet, and their culture is a window of the tradition as practiced on the roof of the world centuries ago. Dolpo is home of rare and endangered species of wildlife and plants ie snow leopard, gray wolf, Blude Sheep etc.

Lower Dolpo trek is least complicated trek to undertake, and one of the most popular treks in the west of Nepal. Ringmo, Phoksundo Lake is the tourist destination of lower Dolpo. Lower Dolpo trek offers a wonderful chance to experience a landscape and culture far different from that seen in other parts of Nepal.

The trekking in Dolpo was not open for foreigners till 1989. From trekking point of View, Dolpo region is divided into two parts: Upper Dolpo and Lower Dolpo.

Lower Dolpo Trek Itinerary - 20 days

Day 01: Arrival Kathandu

Day 02: Sightseeing Kathmandu

Day 03: Flight : Kathmandu - Nepalgunj, hotel

Day 04: Fly Nepalgunj - Juphal, trek begins: Dunai - camp

Day 05: Tarakot -camp

Day 06: tharap khola camp i - camp

Day 07: tharap khola camp ii - camp

Day 08: dho - camp

Day 09: rest day at dho - camp

Day 10: numa la b.c.5050m.

Day 11: nma la - baga la base camp

Day 12: baga la 5070m. Yak karka

Day 13: phoksundo lake side - camp (ringmo)

Day 14: phoksundo lake side - camp. Rest day chholung gompa

Day 15: sali gad camp in sepka 3060m.

Day 16: dunai camp 2130m.

Day 17: juphal camp

Day 18: fly juphal-nepalgunj-ktm , transfer to hotel

Day 19: Kathmandu free day, hotel

Day 20: Final departure, transfer to airport
