Jumla- Rara trek
Jumla is a trans-Himalayan valley with high ridges covered with
forests and alpine pastures. Rara Lake lies in the remote far
northwest of Nepal. Rara is Nepal's largest lake and lies at an
altitude of 3050 meters. An outstanding snowcapped panorama of
Dolpo and Tibetan mountains overshadows the scene across the deep
clear waters of the lake are the attractions of this trek.
From Jumla, one can trek along the broad valley of Tila river,
18 kilometers west of Litakot, where there is a hot water spring
at Tatopani. Another interesting trek takes one 20 kilometers
east to Gothichaur (2,750 m), a circular bowl of grassy slopes
and pine forests. Jumla- Rara trek is one of the popular treks
in western Nepal.
